HUSC Past Player Michael Fulop

What was your jersey number with Hartford United?

21, 36, 9

Where(school) are you currently playing and what position(s) are you playing?

Prairie State College- Chicago Heights, IL Right/Left forward

Do you have a goal to play professional soccer after college?

Possibly, if the opportunity arises I will take it

Do you plan to coach once your playing career is over?

Yes

Were you excited or nervous to join HUSC?

I was a little of both. I didn’t know many of my teammates but I was finally playing soccer at a competitive level with good coaching.

Any memories of the transition to HUSC that you can share for new players joining us?

I came through a unique way as I was recruited by Jim Schrot to join his team. Going through the transition and playing with people I never knew, it helped to have friends that happened to already be on the team.

If you could meet up with one HUSC coach for breakfast who would it be and why?

Derek Navin, my first assistant coach at HUSC, just to see him again.

If you had to do it all over again, is there anything that you would do differently?

No

What was most important to you in your development as a player with Hartford United SC?

The basic technique and understanding of the game because once you have a solid foundation, the more advanced skills will come easier and you’ll be able to excel faster.

What is your proudest accomplishment with Hartford United SC?

Getting to the championship game in the top flight of USA Cup with the U-18 team. Playing only with 13 guys the whole weekend made it difficult but we were able to pull through.

What advice would you give current players as they set goals in hopes of playing at the college level?

Be able to do anything your coaches ask of you. You might have to transition to another position. You also have to be confident with your non dominant foot because if you only have one foot, college players will catch on very quick and most likely you will have a tough time on the pitch during that match.
